I found this interesting article about radio in the coronavirus area. The article notes radio listenership is way up while streaming is way down. However, three genres have actually gained streams–children’s, folk, and classical.
First off, do you know why these genres are so in demand? How has isolation affected how much you listen to the radio or stream? And has it changed what kind of music you listen to?
I can’t remember the last time I listened to the radio - mainly because in our county, there are few options, and the available ones really suck. But I just got an Echo Dot, so I’ve been having Alexa play music quite a bit lately. Primarily Big Band and Soft Rock, but I’ve also chosen classical, folk, and easy listening instrumental. I think I’ve missed music in the background.
Ive been replaying Fallout 4 and listening to a lot of Wasteland Radio 1 and 2. Ive become obsessed with this very dark song and I expect it to remind me of these horrible dark days for the rest of my life.
I listen to the radio in the car and I still do about the same amount. I work 6 days a week and stay up late one day to go to the grocery store.
