Has Jean Auel (Clan of the Cave Bear) lost it as an author?

So I guess you’ll retreat to your home, Mr. Underbridge?

Remember, you said you won’t post here again!

Not to mention it was mean, misogynistic and aimed to hurt. There are women writers on ths forum too.

And get a clue on your random drive-bys. I was talking about EmilyG’s sentence.

I almost want to read Clan of the Cave Bear now.

(Which I had it in my head was some schlocky prehistoric My Side of the Mountain/Hatchet YA junk. I take it they’re a tad more adult?)

DO NOT call other posters trolls.

Yes, quite a bit more mature. I disagree heartily on her portrayal of the Neanderthals, particularly in giving them basically the lifespans of a dog wherein they died at about age 10. However, the world build is excellent and she really does bring the Paleolithic to life. Though do be aware there is a lot of dubously consentual sex and basically rape in another case.

Oh, I think I’ll be ok. Not only did I manage to get through McCaffrey’s Freedom series, I, also, to my everlasting shame read all of Piers Anthony’s Mode series. I’m far more familiar with literary squicky sex than I ever wanted to be.

Yah, you sound more than capable.

But it’s still nice to be prepared for it…

I’m very sorry. :frowning: I’ll have a look around and try to find something else I want to post about here.
