We’ve all always been this way, we just now get to see it in action more often.
Looks more to me like FaceBook et.al. have made people more sucky-feely, with panels of sugary bon-mots and like-clickies.
It opened the door to give a few trolls free access, but they’re very much in a tiny minority.
Probably also some relation to the anonymity of electronic communication.
For example, many otherwise honest, upstanding people seem to feel that it’s quite acceptable to post here using false names.
No, people are only kind and considerate when they know they will be held accountable for their actions. Give them some degree of separation from that; they turn into assholes.
This has always been the case. I use driving as my litmus test. When was the last time somebody cut in front of you in the line at the grocery store? Now ask yourself, “When was the last time somebody cut in front of you in traffic?”
