It takes a couple of hours to run a check.
However, there are many demands for checks and a long queue. Low priority checks keep getting pushed to the back. It could be several weeks before they get around to running this check.
This is also true of DNA tests.
I thought the odds of it being a hoax was well under 20%. You have to know about DNA and all that so you’d know you’d be caught out.
So, we have on our hands a 23 year-old who is already a career criminal and fraudster. So even more likely to be caught out quickly. I’d ask “What was he thinking?” but, seriously, the less I know about the deranged mind of such a person the happier I’ll be.
