Has your opinion on Roger Clemens changed since his statements?

Add a little epinephrine to the mix and its effects will last much longer than that. And it would be beneficial for relief of pain in the hams and trochanters. It has the potential to enhance performance by reducing pain in minutes.

It is not an uncommon practice in athletes.

Yeah this is what got me too. I have never been a fan of him as a person but this really ripped it for me. What a sense of self-righteous entitlement. And this coming from a guy who is nothing more than a prostitute with a fast ball. He held out until NY got desperate last year, to milk every last dollar from them AND he never even traveled with the team. What an example for young players who definitely need someone of character as a mentor. What a great teammate. He is a self-officious prick who possesses (or possessed) an incredible pitching arm.

Granted, I’m going from memory, and I’ve deleted the recording from the TiVo already, but I could have sworn he did ask those two questions, if not with exactly that phrasing.

I had no opinion whatsoever on the matter until I happened to see the 60 Minutes interview, but afterward, I did come away with the opinion that Mr. Clemens seemed more outraged by what he perceived as a betrayal by the guy who claimed to have injected him than he did with the charges themselves. My perception was that he was more concerned about having been tattled on than about having been falsely accused.

FWIW, this is from someone who could give a rat’s ass about whether professional athletes use steroids or other banned substances. But yeah, just based on that interview, I would bet that he did.

I just heard someone on sports radio make a good point- Rog was full of rage at the 60 minutes interview, and at the one following with the media. Yet when he talks to the guy who allegedly lied on him and ruined his life, he’s pretty tame- no “you fucking liar, why’d you lie on me”, just “man I just want someone to tell the truth”…

Anyone get the feeling that McNamee was fishing for some “keep quiet” money?

Unfortunately for Clemens, there is nothing he can say or do. His reputation is in the toilet, no matter how much or strenuously he denies using steroids. We’ve seen so many players deny deny deny and then it comes out they used. Plus, we have the guys that obviously used (Bonds) denying it till the cows come home. I lean towards Clemens taking something, but the proof isn’t very solid.

Lidocaine is a prescription drug, no? Shouldn’t Clemens be able to produce the name of the doctor that prescribed it? Wouldn’t pharmacies have records of his purchase?

What a poisonous environment anyone who’s accused now is confronted with. You’re bang on here and this caveat currently isn’t being thrown out there enough as a caution along with these accusations as they make their way to the court of public opinion. We’re jaded. The evidence against the most obvious violaters and, therefore, first accused, evidence both real and circumstantial, has all been so overwhelming so far. Now a name comes out and our first inclination is damn, there’s another one!

I’m not defending Roger. I’d not be surprised if he took things not to make himself stronger but with the intent of recovering quicker, not that that makes it any less egregious. But without question we’re in an environment where ‘the feed barn light’s been turned on and everything we see must be a rat.’

I’ve disliked that arrogant sonuvabitch his entire career. Doesn’t make me want to see him get a fair shake any less though.
