Have any Dopers undergone Radiofrequency Ablation surgery?

I have had this procedure done, mostly on the Great Sapphenous veins in my left calf, by a cardiovascular surgeon. Apparently these particular veins have, because of my age (67) or some other cause, failed to carry blood from my ankles up into my thighs as they should, so the surgeon is closing their connections of with this procedure–which because of the part of my leg he does it on I can’t see.
The point is that there is some pain involved. He did this before, a few years ago; but it did not take properly so he has done more of it lately. Though he claims anesthesia is used, I feel a sudden severe sting (reminiscent of the needle sting caused when a dentist injects anesthesia into the jaw–I know that well).
All I want to know is *if someone else has undergone this procedure, * so I am not singling myself out. (There may be more of this to do; if so, I want to know ahead of time so I can arrange other transportation–I will want to be sedated this time.)

Since the OP is asking about personal experiences, let’s move this to IMHO.
