Have I been offered a job? I honestly don't know!

Send her an email asking her when you start work. If she says you aren’t hired yet, give her a sob story about how you quit your job and made plans and stuff, and you totally thought she had offered you the job by the way she was talking. If you can’t get a pity job, at least you might get her to re-consider her half-assed interview methods.

(Mostly kidding, unless you want to go ahead and do it. Do it! Do it! And report back to us!)

Haha, featherlou that would be funny.

Harriet the Spy, I assure you this is a legitimate position that is not in marketing, found though a non-profit that has a good number of job listings in the publishing field for my area. Your warnings will certainly be taken to heart, 'cause you really never know.

But I got a reply from her today that said she was still talking about staffing and would get back to me hopefully by the end of the day. Unfortunately it’s now almost 11 and no reply, so maybe she’ll let me know tomorrow?

Job hiring “time” and real “time” do not belong in the same universe. “I’ll get back to you tonight” can mean “You might hear from me sometime next week”.

Keep the faith!

Certainly, “I’d like to start making offers tomorrow” meant I got a call the next week. (I’m pretty sure I wasn’t a second choice, the person planning on making the calls just got swamped.)

Just show up for work and ask the secretary where you sit. You will get your answer in no time
