Have the 16May2012 edition of Country Life?

Does anyone have a copy of the 16May2012 edition of Country Life? I’d really like a readable version of this page on Tudor Banquet Trenchers, but the zinio website won’t ship to the USA. I’ve written to *Country Life *to try and get a back issue, but they haven’t responded to my email yet.

I’m going to my gynecologist next week and they have it in the waiting room. If I see it I will steal it for you, DG.

I would be most grateful, Ellen. If the staff there is willing to scan the page, you may not need to steal it (Though for a six-month old weekly, they might be happier if you did take it).

Hm, weekly? I think they get Town & Country. :nose in air: I might not be able to help you after all. :frowning:

It is a long shot, but perhaps try WorldCat? It’s an international library catalog, though not all libraries are in it (they need to pay to be included).

In the search box, just underneath the search bar, you have “advanced search”. Change one of the drop down menus like Title to “ISSN” and input 0045-8856. That is like an ISBN for a book - but it’s an international standardized SERIAL number (serial being another word for journal/magazine/etc).

Annoyingly, you still get a fair amount of choices, because different libraries enter things differently sometimes. But if you click on the first result, you’ll get a list of libraries, sorted by zip code. Likely the zip code is wrong, so you should put in the one you need and click “Find Libraries”.

Your next step is to click on one of the links for a university, etc. This will take you into the individual library catalog. Sometimes the search fails and you need to re-run it yourself. Sometimes you will run the search and realize that they do not have the May 2012 item that you need - it would still be listed even if they stopped receiving it in 2009, for instance.

As this is not an American publication, it will mostly be found in universities, not public libraries. You should call a perspective library in advance and make sure they have it. Maybe they will email it to you as a scanned PDF, or maybe they will say you need to come in. If so, bring ID just in case. (Likely they will offer to email it unless they have a strict policy against non-university persons using their resources.)

If you know a nearby university has it but you have trouble getting it, you might go to your public library and inquire about interlibrary loan. (This is also a valid course of action if the WorldCat thing fails, since a librarian is trained in finding periodicals and letting you know if they can get the item for you. I do highly recommend this if you get stuck. Remember I said not all libraries are in WorldCat. They probably have something else they can search besides WorldCat.)

Good luck. Again, a long shot, but it might give you more leads.

I tried worldcat, and there’s no library that lists the UK version *Country Life * after the 1940s in my state. :frowning:
