According to one book I read years ago, no cite sorry, whenever Neil took a photo, he was instructed to say he was taking a photo so that Mission Control could mark the time the photo was taken. They were very meticulous. The times and exposure numbers were cross referenced for archiving and for whatever else they needed that specific info for.
I just wish I could remember the book! It would definitely fit in with this discussion. Oh well…
Maybe you read the Apollo Lunar Surface Journal? The first time I came across that site, I read the Apollo 11 story from beginning to end, and was almost moved to tears by the danger, courage, and accomplishment of these folks more than 30 years before.
I understand. I just wanted it in this thread that Armstrong’s actual descent of the ladder was photographed. That will not convince those claiming fake, of course. Did NASA, or Armstron or Aldrin ever claim that the photo you speak of was Armstrong?
