Have you ever been attacked by a random stranger? Any attempted attacks?

When I was about 11 or 12 I was walking home and a pickup truck pulled up next to me. A grown-ass man jumped out of the back, punched me in the face, jumped back into the truck and they sped off.

I have no idea who he or the driver were, never saw them before in my life.

Not really a fight, but an odd altercation. Back when I was in my early 20’s I was on my way to see a movie with a couple of friends. About a block away from the theatre we saw couple about our age, a man and a woman, standing on the sidewalk. The man suddenly pushed the woman up against the side of a building and started cursing and shaking her. I stepped up beside them and told him to let her go and calm down. He let go but then started trying to push me away with both hands on my chest. I stepped back and turned and he stumbled and fell onto the sidewalk. Instead of thanking me, the woman started cursing and trying to slap my face. I was able to block her with my forearms while trying to keep an eye on the man as he got back on his feet. It seemed the trip and fall had calmed him down, because he convinced the woman to stop attacking me and the two of them walked away.

If anyone ever wondered why LEOs are not fond of domestic dispute calls.

In my last year of high school, I was walking to school mid-morning on my usual route which passed through a small wedge of land with a creek and railroad track. There was a group of 3 middle-aged Ojibwe men (there is a reservation not far from the small city I grew up in) sharing a bottle of whiskey. As I passed by, they offered the bottle to me. I’m not sure if they regarded it as a challenge, or were having a friendly buzz. Back then, I was a combination of impulsive and foolishly fearless, so I accepted and took a swig. This seemed to be okay with them so they offered me a second. I thanked them and continued to school, as soon as I got there I headed for a water fountain to try to wash the smell of alcohol from by breath.
