Meijer’s Thrifty Acres store in Flint, Michigan? They have a huge play area for kids with big ceramic(?) animals to climb on and those sproingy things. We played there many a time when I was a kid while my parents were shopping.
I grew up in the metro Detroit area and all the Meijer’s stores used to have play areas in them when we were kids. Haven’t seen one in years, though. I just assumed that in our child-obsessed and litigation-mad culture, no “responsible” parent would let their kids play unsupervised and no store would make themselves a target by having an open area like that anymore.
The area might have just looked huge because I was small… but I’m glad to finally know someone else that knows what I’m talking about. Most people just stare at me blankly when I mention it.
