Leaving aside your insane opinions on adoption, of course he was pro-adoption. He was adopted as an infant and did quite well for himself. No reason for him not to be happy about being alive and adopted by loving parents. I have no idea if you are right about if he was anti-abortion. But that hardly matters since he has been dead for 10 years and retired from daily operation of the company in 1982.

I don’t boycott for junk mail, but now that you mention, I do make a point never to give my business to any company that leaves on of those fake newspaper print ads at the end of my driveway. If I could, I’d have them all fined for littering.
I freakin’ HATE those things. Is there seriously anybody at all who has ever chosen a company’s services based on one fo those ads?!?
One time I ordered from them because they were amongst the places we were thinking of ordering from anyway, and I happened to have their flyer on hand so that may have made the deal final and/or kept their name fresh in our mind. Don’t blame me, I was feeding my friends who were helping me move so they had the final say
I hate menu flyers as well and normally do not order from them. If it makes me feel any better, I can tell myself that they have lost more money than they have gained from me when you include the labor of all those people flyer-ing places.
I love and adore Lululemon clothes. I have several pairs of yoga pants and a couple of their “Scuba” sweaters that are perfect for any number of situations (including post scuba) but I can’t buy them anymore and I’m sad that they’re such idiots.
I recently found out that they pay for and “encourage” all their managers to attend Landmark seminars. I don’t care how many people they(Landmark) sue for saying it, Landmark is a culty culty cult. I have a friend I’ve had to totally cut off becaue their only topic of conversation now is Landmark. They went from being a reasonably well rounded person with a snarky kind of personality to this simpering metaphor spewing robot. They sucker people in on the first session and then convince them they can’t keep growing their lives without regular sessions.
After reading “Fast Food Nation” I stopped eating at McDonalds and Burger King. In fact, any major chain burger place but those are the two biggies here.
I really like burgers.
The bastard was very anti-abortion and liked to use his life story as a reason why women should be denied abortions.
I wouldn’t boycott a company for the owners’ idiotic personal beliefs – let alone the dead founder’s. If my patronage constitutes an endorsement of or the profits I generate help fund those beliefs, I’d factor that into my purchasing decision.
I would probably really enjoy StarCraft 2, but I’m not buying it due to the always-on “must be connected to our servers to play your single player game” DRM archetecture.
I love beef, but I don’t eat veal due to the brutal conditions of veal calfs. My stance on meat in general is pretty weak as factory farms are pretty terrible, but I love, love meat.
I wish there was a non-religious habitat for humanity as I love the mission of providing home to the homeless in exchange for sweat equity, but as an atheist, I dislike the (admittely subtle) religions aspects.
What’s up with Tom Cruise? He’s said some boneheaded stuff about mental illness, but I don’t know of him being a bad person in any way. As far as I can tell, Scientology hasn’t ruined any lives.
So are you anti-adoption?
With every fiber of my being, but that is not what this thread is about.
I’ve boycotted Burma for years now, but it may be time for a rethink. The reforms seem real, or at least as real as these things can be over here. A buddy is traveling around it now, says it’s great.
I will for the moment believe what you say is true. The fact remains he’s been dead for ten years and retired from running the company for 30 years ago. If you boycotted every company that had someone prominent in their history who’s viewpoints you disagreed with you wouldn’t be able to purchase anything.
I’m begging you please don’t.
