And why?
What businesses, charities, services, states, etc. do you boycott and what are your reasons for doing so?
(Please no debates about whether something is or is not a good reason to boycott, unless it’s a verifiable urban legend.)

I boycott Threads about boycotts!
Doh!
I actually don’t boycott anything except ex-girlfriend’s places. No one should go to them and they should all die lonely and broken. Especially Jen. Whore.
punk snot dead,
broccoli! <----having a bad weekend/week
I boycott the grocery chain Safeway because they once had my car towed when I parked in their lot. Those bastards.
Woody Allen, his movies, and the movie stars that continue to associate and work with him. I think he should have been prosecuted for sexually molesting his daughter.
Dominoes Pizza (mostly because it’s crap) and cable television (also because it’s crap). I also refuse to set foot in a church.
I won’t eat at Planet Hollywood after they served my wife a bug in her drink and wouldn’t apologize properly.
I won’t vacation in Cuba. No, I’m not a member of the John Birch Society; I just don’t want to line Fidel Castro’s pockets when his people get none of the profits.
I won’t wear Nike equipment.
I avoid using products from China.
I won’t buy anything from Future Shop because they suck ass.
Martha Stewart. She calls THAT wrapping paper? Add a flower and call it perfect, I suppose…
They damn near destroyed the institution of comic books with their “exclusive marketing” schemes.
I try to boycott Chinese products (People’s Republic, not Taiwan).
However, I must admit that I sometimes forget to check the country of manufacture, and have neded up owning a number of Chinese products inadvertently. Also, I have found some products are not made anywhere but in China, and I usually have caved in and bought them rather than do without.
Exxon gasoline. Still.
Pepsi, when at all possible. I just like Coke.
I do my very best to avoid any organization that abuses animals. Of course that’s MY definition of abuse. I don’t belong to PETA, never gave them money, never will, and I don’t often agree with PETA. I love meat, and I don’t believe MOST farming practices abuse the animal. But veal is definitely off my list.
So who does this affect? Circuses, horse and dog racing places, Anheuser Busch (Sea World). I’m not too pleased with traditional zoos, but I recognize some zoos do a great deal to help endangered species.
Sometimes it’s tough for me to draw the line determining abuse in my eyes. So if I have to think about it, I normally just keep my dollars in my pocket.
I also try to boycott organizations that abuse animals. I’m a vegetarian, and I try not to use animal by-products whenever possible, but sometimes it’s unavoidable. For instance, the tip of pool cues are made of leather, and a suitable substitute has never been found.
Amoco gasoline (due to their corporate behavior in a legal matter I handled) and Toshiba (violating U.S. re-export laws some years ago which gave the Soviets the ability to improve their submarines.) I also avoid products from the Republic of China, but agree with the previous responder who said that a complete boycott is difficult.
I’m with Señor RickJay on the Cuba boycott.
I don’t attend circuses that have animal acts. I’m still on the fence with zoos.
I don’t buy from amazon.com because they sell the NAMBLA Journal.
I boycott anybody who doesn’t know that the correct grammar is “Whom do you boycott?”.
Ouch. That had to hurt!
Robin, what is “The NAMBLA Journal”?
I boycott eating lamb chops or any other lamb product because I don’t like eating baby animals.
Also I don’t really love the taste and I don’t have much opportunity.
And Barnes and Nobles.com from now one because their service is…craptacular.
Any event in which clowns will be featured (hate clowns!)
_____'s Roadhouse Grill (varies throughout the country, in FL, it is called Cody’s Roadhouse Grill. Gave me and my fiance very bad food poisoning and never apologized).
Exxon. You know why.
Midas. They really ripped me off.
PetSmart. They don’t take care of their fish, many fish they sell are dying. (I have many aquariums)
NAMBLA is the North American Man Boy Love Association.
So, Joyfulgirl, which organizations that abuse animals do you boycott? Any particular companies? Products?
For those who don’t use products from China, is it because of human rights violations or is it for some other reason?
