Have you ever flown out of Chicago with a declared firearm in your checked luggage?

Tomorrow we’ll be flying out of O’hare. I always take my off-duty piece where ever I travel and have never had a problem at any airport in the U.S. declaring a firearm in my checked luggage. They just hand me the small form and that’s that.

But I’ve never flown out of anti-gun Chicago with a firearm before. Anyone here ever do it?

Any problems?

As far as I know, this question would only be legally answerable by LEOs. Both Midway and O’Hare are within the city proper and, as such, only duly appointed peace officers are allowed to possess handguns, even in transit. There’s very few exceptions (city council members, bank guards to-and-from work, etc).

You’re incorrect about the “in-tansit” part. There is a federal safe journey law that covers this kind of thing.

All I’m wondering is if anyones done it and gotten any hard times from the airline ticketing agent at check in.
