The face cream? My daughter said she was in the shower, opened the jar, and received a zap, like static electricity. She searched around and a few other people said that they did get a shock from it, too. Any reason why this would happen?
Sometimes I get shocks from running water from the tap too. I think sometimes the electrons just clump (in my not-at-all scientific opinion).
Hey, saw your post from 1999. I just received my 2nd shock from Noxema yesterday. I was telling the Electrician at the place I work about it and he said it made no sense. It was a good zap…I felt the sting and heard the zap. Kind of scary when you’re standing in water.
Is the jar or lid made of metal?
I’ve used Noxceema every morning for years, and 1) I’ve never gotten even the mildest zap, and 2) after buying it all this time you’d think I’d know how to spell it.
I usually use the one with extra moisurizing power - it has a purple label. Maybe the regular stuff is zappier?
I suspect it’s acting as a Leyden Jar - and the charge is being generated when the jar is filled.
If you are referring to this thread, it was actually started just a few weeks ago. The year 1999 is just when the OP joined this message board.
I’ve also received the noxema shock. It happens quite frequently, sometimes you can hear the zap! Almost always occurs from a fresh new jar.
I’ve used Noxzema as shaving cream for many years. It’s the best. No shock - EVER.
I haven’t used the shaving cream/gel, just the stuff that comes in a jar to remove zits, lol.
My mom would wear it on her face sometimes.
You come around the corner and BAM! Scary hair, white face, cigarette dangling.
Very shocking for a 10yo!
I nominate that we officially call this “Noxic Shock Syndrome.”
