Have you ever killed someone?

I feel you. As a L&D RN, it’s the same.

Apparently, the guy I replaced at my last job liked to tell people, “I killed 11 people in Vietnam, and I don’t like odd numbers.”

Once, in Reno…just to watch him die.

I cursed a man once, and about three months later he threw himself off the top of a multi-storey parking lot.

Of course, I don’t believe in curses, nor think there was any link whatsoever, particularly as he didn’t know I’d wished him ill - but for a few years afterwards, I did, and it freaked the hell out of me.

I suspect the reason I despised him so much was the reason he killed himself - he was loathsome, and he knew it.

Tangentially similar to jjimm’s story -

While in high school, being our usual obnoxious superior selves, my friends and I spied a girl pass by who, being from the lower economic strata and less than spectacular looking (and to us rather dim), became the target of our momentary derision. We sneered to ourselves, “What a waste of space…How utterly useless…She doesn’t deserve to live.” We concocted the notion of wiggling our elbows at her as an amusing curse.

Don’tcha know it, that very night she died in a fatal car accident - out for some underage drinking she ran into an abutment.

um…
