Have you ever watched a movie and knew just by the way it ended there'd be a sequel?

Underworld begs for a sequel.

“James Bond will return”

“The Passion of the Christ” obviously set itself up for a sequel. It was pathetically sad.

The Matrix ended with some cheesy monologue about saving humanity or something, but the movie worked well on its own. Too bad. Then the end of the third one also sounded open. We can only hope they just leave it alone now.

Nah, that was just the entire audience that you heard. And they definitely weren’t screaming “sequel!”

EZ

Back to the Future Part II. Something about that ending just made me think that there might be a Part III around the corner. Probably it was something to do with the “To Be Conluded” and the trailer for Part III that they showed.

But then again, perhaps it was how the plot was left hanging with no real sense of conclusion.

Or maybe it was the fact that by the time Part II was out in NZ, Part III had already screened in the US.

It was one of those, anyway.

Let me be the first to say Jurassic Park. What a good show. Because of the way the plot was structured, in my young mind I knew there would be a sequel. I even imagined that the first scenes would involve that rival dinosaur company who hired “Newman” (the overweight computer programmer guy). In my mind they found the dino-DNA contained within the shaving cream canister (which would have had a tracking device) floating in the ocean. They then would go on to make their own dinosaurs… anyway, I was very excited to see what a sequel would look like.

I never even went to see J.P. II or III. From what I understand, my idea would have been much better than the sequels ended up being.

Henry V

I always thought they would try to milk the series one more time. Henry VI son of Hal!

Close Encounters.

I was convinced there would be a sequel to Flash Gordon , with that “The End?” caption and the grasping hand.

Thank God, I was wrong.

The End of *Escape from the Planet of the Apes * was an obvious set-up for a sequel.

KHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNN! KHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!
Speaking of which, so were star treks 2, 3 and 4.

I’ve seen a few movies which obviously left open some loose ends just in case but I can’t remember any at the moment.

The Fellowship of the Ring?

Seriously, though, every single one of the half dozen times I saw that movie, someone in the audience would get to the end and say, “That’s it!?”

Titanic.

But I was wrong.

After Breakin’ I knew there was an Electric Boogaloo to come.

Sorry, but that wouldn’t have saved it. The book was decent, but it just didn’t work as a movie.
