It depends on the industry. In defense/government contracting, LinkedIn is definitely important for keeping track of people, particularly with folks changing jobs regularly. I have never used it for posting jobs, but I certainly see lots of recruiters using it for that. In general, if I found myself unemployed, I’d definitely reach out to my LinkedIn network well before I’d use Facebook.
