Having dreams about other dreams.

Does anyone else do this? I have such vivid dreams (when I actually do get good sleep), and everything seems so incredibly real.

I had a dream the other night that several of my friends and I were out (can’t remember the locale) and a moose is there, and someone states that the moose’s name is Silver…I can’t remember anything else about that dream now…but…the next night I had a dream that one of my friends had their birthday party at what can only be described as a small inside zoo/animal testing lab. (I don’t believe in animal testing, so go figure…I am sure to get flamed for that!) Anyway, there is a moose there and I ask the employees if his name is Silver, and no one knows!

This is not the first dream that I have incorporated information from another dream, and I am sure it will not be the last. By the way, does anyone have a moose named Silver?

Not sure if this counts, but I get incredibly confused about my status as a non-smoker because of my dreams. Ever since I quit, I’ve been having dreams in which I smoke. Now I have dreams where I think about smoking, then decide not to because I’ve quit for nearly twelve months, then I tell myself I’ve done it before so it’s ok - but I’ve only done it before in other dreams! So complicated!!

The other night I had a dream within a dream.

My dream was that I was in a car accident. I wasn’t hurt in the dream but was worrying about my insurance going up and what it was going to cost to repair. A little later in the dream, I remember waking up on a couch and looking out a window where I could see my undamaged car. I breathed a sigh of relief that it had only been a dream. Then shortly after that, my alarm went off and I really woke up. Very very strange.

So yes, I have incorporated one part of a dream into another. Can’t help with the moose thing though:p

I hear ya. I have had the tooth dream (teeth fall out, or break, or go mushy, whatever) so many times that it’s gotten to the point where, in my dream, I think, “Oh my God, I’ve dreamt this so many times before and now it’s really happening!”

I also have a recurring dream that involves climbing the same (imaginary) mountain. I run across paths I’ve taken in previous dreams, and sometimes repeat routes on purpose or try new ways. But nonetheless, I always recognize where I am from previous “visits”. Kinda cool.

strange as it is I routinely have what are called serial dreams.
It’s just like watching tv …but it’s all me.

Once I had a dream where a friend was asking me advice about his lovelife (poor fool). Then weeks later, I had a dream where someone from my past was trying to manipulate me into doing something for her. Part of it involves me changing my name, she suggests the name of my friend from the other dream (who she didn’t know in real life). I tell her I already know someone by that name, and I remember the discussion he and I had from the other dream.

I did have a dream with recurring elements so many times that I would say “Oh no, not again,” sometimes when it would start. I was aware of the previous dreams but they always played out the same way. Until once one element changed, I got through a certain doorway I could never pass before. After that, the dream never reoccurred. I guess I accomplished whatever I had to do to get those elements out of my system.
