Having trouble with my Blu-Ray player. Firmware issues?

OK, so I bought a Sony Blu-Ray player in February. It’s done all right so far.

Except…

I picked up The Hulk on Blu-Ray. I can play the special features but when I launch the actual movie I get about 0.5 seconds of the film (the studio video logo) and then it shuts down the actual player. I returned the disc, figuring it might be defective, and the new disc had the same thing occur.

I hear tales about a firmware upgrade but wouldn’t know much about it. Can anyone out there in Dope-land advise? Is it just the burn? Is my player already obsolete? And what do I do to deal with it?

Does your player have an Ethernet port? If so, getting it on your home network should allow it to update it’s self. Otherwise, you download the firmware upgrade from the manufacturer’s web site and burn it onto a CD.

What **gaffa **said. You’ll need the update. Went through same issue recently.
