HBO clipped off the Bishop Robinson prayer?

As will surprise no one, I’m not a Bishop Eugene Robinson fan and I am a Rick Warren fan. BUT I also try to be a “Fairness” fan, tho I’m sure some will disagree. A lot of Obama supporters got upset at Warren giving the Inauguration Prayer. So President Obama tries to make it up by inviting Bishop Robinson to give the opening prayer at the Sunday celebrity Inauguration celebration/concert.

And HBO, not a gay or liberal unfriendly TV network at all, CUTS it off?!?! WTF?

OK, I just read an HBO announcement where they plan to add it in re-runs & also on the webcast, but STILL, what happened in the first place?

Apparently, knowing full well that the broadcast would begin at 2:30, the Obama staff scheduled Bishop Robinson’s invocation for 2:25. They then put out a statement saying that it was a mistake.

There is a 30 minute NPR story about this (inadvertent?) snub and what it means available on the web now. I’ll listen to it in a few minutes and see what they’re saying.

Long story short, someone screwed up, big time. And a lot of people are really angry about it.
