HBO True Detective Season 3 will film in Arkansas

Good news for my home state. 300 local jobs are getting created. It’ll be fun spotting local businesses and locations.

Nic Pizzolatto, a 2005 graduate of the University of Arkansas wrote the majority of the new season.

I’ve never seen the show. Guess I need to watch and get caught up.

Is it a cool show? Big hit?

That’s fantastic news! I don’t watch the show, either, but it’s good to see good things happen in NWA, or anywhere in the state. Maybe I’ll have to check out the show, too.

The Hell you say? That is seriously cool.

The first two seasons were great but it’s an anthology series (each season tells an unrelated story) so you won’t have to get caught up at all.

The first season was pretty good, but I thought the big climax was a disappointment. The atmosphere was great, the acting was great, everything was pretty good so I have few complaints and I overall enjoyed it.

The second season sucked. Everything about it was tedious and heavy-handed. It was an awful missed opportunity in every way.

I hope the third season will be closer to the first.

This is my opinion. I actually liked the first season quite a lot. The second season was terrible. The story was completely ridiculous and had so many seemingly arbitrary things thrown at the wall to see what stuck.

If they can capture what was special about the first season again that would be great. One advantage of the anthology format is that the terrible second season doesn’t hinder later story efforts.

Thanks! That’s good to know.
