Karen Dotrice, who played Jane Banks, is also alive, but at merely 70 it doesn’t sound as impressive.

I first saw “Fitzwilly” in the theater; unfortunately I was with my younger bother and sister who kept talking so I missed half of the humor.

I currently have it on my DVR (from a TCM showing) so I can watch it whenever I want.

Actually, at that age they were both bothers. As I recall, “Fitzwilly” was being shown as a double feature with some “children’s” movie that they had wanted to see, and I had been delegated to supervise them for the day, Considering that they were only two and four years younger than me, you can imagine how well they respected my “authority”.

If you’ve never seen Dick’s interview about alcoholism in the 1970s, it’s worth it. He really spoke out about it being a disease at a time when it was less discussed and being a drunk could still be seen as funny.
