So clearly the problem is insurance companies exploiting doctors. Then of course being forced to carry it to operate in a hospital is perfect for those who sell it. So .you have to have it and insurance companies will charge a ton and get rich,. Insurance loots at all stages of healthcare.
Well, its not JUST the insurance carriers but it is a problem.
It’s only missing two magic words “Life Panels”!
CMC fnord!
It’s hard to imagine that they could actually think they would get away with repealing “Obamacare” and replacing it with the exact same thing simply re-branded as “Republicare” and no one would notice . . . WTF am I thinking, this is America, of course they could. :smack:
I appreciate that this is sarcastic, but it’s worth pointing out that it would put some lawyers out of business. The asshole ones. It’s a win-win.
Tort reform along the line’s Orszag proposes would save a lot of money.
Actually, what you quoted is the Republican alternative to Clinton’s health care reform in 1993. In other words, “Obamacare” is pretty much exactly what the Republicans proposed back when this subject was the hot topic…17 years ago.
Sharron Angle was promising repeal at a rally, according to CNN. OTOH, McCain, who was a speaker there, was calling her the “51st [Republican] vote in the Senate,” and as discussed before, promise != ability.
What we need is a system that can provide decent health care with less use of smart people. There is a finite supply of smart people and the situation is getting worse since India and other countries are starting to catch on and is less inclined to let us strip mine their smart people.
What we need is more systems that allow more diagnosis and treatment to be automated with nurses handing a most of the treatment and less involvement of MDs in the system.
Of course, we could increase the supply of smart people by closing our business and law schools, but I’m sure I would care for letting a high percentage of sociopaths into the medical profession.
