Does peritonial dialysis have a greater risk for infection than the other form of dialysis whose name escapes me right now…(can you remind me?) ??? - Jinx
PD has a much higher risk of peritonitis than does hemodialysis. Infection complications are frequent with both sorts of dialysis. Overall, I believe the risks ae a bit higher for PD just because it’s a continuous process. Hemodialysis is done over 4 to 6 hours just 3 days a week.

That should read “the frequency of all types of infection is higher with PD than with HD”. I’m trying to track down hard statistics. More later if I find them.
