Hear about the US Ambassador to Moscow?

From today’s New York Times

His dad jumped into Normandy. Eventually got captured. Escaped on his third try, walked across Poland to the Eastern Front. Linked up with the Red Army. Refused to be repatriated. Fought with a Soviet tank battalion until he was wounded. Returned to the States and managed a bowling ball factory. He raised a kid who is now the US ambassador to Russia.

Dad had balls of the finest brass.

Damn!

Obligatory flight suit photo op: Here

Dad was wounded in Normandy, escaped capture, was recaptured. The Germans nabbed his dog tags, and someone with his dog tags in a US uniform was killed. His folks had a funeral mass for their son. He came back from the freakin’ dead.

Like I said, balls of brass.
