heartburn GERD help and advice

Hi all,

I’ve just finished my detox diet yesterday and really looking forward to some unhealthy tidbits, I try to detox every three months.

I have spent years suffering with acid reflux and initially I took the gp, medical route, losec for over 5 years until I started getting joint pain and gp diagnosed arthritis. I got medications for this also, but I was unhappy with being on more medications and started to look for alternative treatment.

I spent years getting to where I am now, so here’s some of the things that have really helped my reflux and heartburn.

Breaburn apples, one every morning, and if you are eating food that causes heartburn another approx 6pm

Every morning, take two acidophilus wafers.

Every morning with your breaburn Apple during one cup of lemon water, made with a half fresh lemon. Let cool and drink.

No more losec, which after research I find is the cause if my joint pain and can be the cause of osteoporosis in women,

I also have a huge reduction in the joint pain which has been reduced by swimming and sauna

so if you suffer from these conditions the above will help,

Good luck

Not seeing a General Question here, I’ ve moved the OP from General Questions to MPSIMS.

And I’m moving it to IMHO, home of medical threads.

Started on Aciphex until BXBC wouldn’t pay $7+ per pill for it, so switched to Nexium at $6+ each, a few years ago. I don’t tolerate esomeprazol. Aciphex had to be taken a 1/2 hour before a meal which was o.k. Nexium is to be taken at least 1 hour before a meal. I choose taking it upon waking in a.m. but have to set alarm for 6 a.m. to have bkfst and get to work by 7:30. I’d rather sleep to 7 (or 8 or 9 but I still work). I recently reset my alarm to 6:30 but I still awake at 6:08 most every morning, take the purple pill with a sip of water from a bottle, and listen to NPR for 45 minutes, then eat a banana on the way to the driveway to pick up the morning paper. Then eat my raisin bran with instant (powdered) milk and blueberries or peaches or diced tropical fruit. No heartburn or GERD. I worried about reported side effect of bone deterioration but doc says that’s only a problem in women.
