Heartwarming Tearjerker of the Day

I know there are more important stories going in the world right now, I also know that things are pretty bad for an awful lot of people in this country and worst still for people elsewhere, but it’s this story that made me tear up and cry like the sap I am.

I think I’ve got something in my eye!

I saw this on “It Made My Day.com”. The comments below were pretty much all of the nature about how heartless and cruel the parents were to force the kid to give up his/her dog during such a traumatic time. Like WTF, as if the poor kid isn’t going through enough right now.

Poor kid! And poor little dog. Cavvies are such great dogs, anyway. Glad this had a happy ending.

Wow- that made me start to cry- that poor broken-hearted kid… We once adopted a Newfoundland who was not wanted by either party in a divorce .

Foggy? Is that you, old friend? From FFF? My username was EJsGirl.

I saw this earlier and it made me all choked up. I came home and hugged my dog.

Giving all the kitties extra scriches in honor of Mr. B. and that poor child. What awful parents.

Can’t decide if this is a happy or sad story. Did the boy leave Mr. B in the man’s driveway, or did the dog wander there by himself?

I wouldn’t jump to blame the parents without more information. Perhaps the divorce entailed selling the house and each parent moving to housing where pets aren’t allowed. Or some other plausible scenario.

Still sucks for that poor kid. I hope he/she at least knows Mr. B is safe now.

Kinda presumptuous of the kid. If it is a kid. Sounds like some grown person trying to pull out all the stops of a guilt trip to get rid of an unwanted animal. Most kids wouldn’t think to do this. Most kids would try a more upfront approach.

Don’t people in the country complain about people dumping unwanted pets on them? Same thing.

Yup, this is me.
How are you doing?

I am great- how are you? I hope things are better than the last time we “spoke.” I’m here sporadically and over on UnaBoard as well.

Please take care!

Kirkland isn’t the country. It’s a city.
Kids aren’t as clueless as you might think.

bawls

That poor kid! What horrible parents!

(BTW, Mr. Rat doesn’t believe this is real :frowning: He’s not the sap I am!)

I didn’t say kids are clueless. I just think a kid is more likely to stand with the animal, going door to door, or stand out at a shopping mall, asking people to help save his or her dog. That’s the approach I would’ve taken when I was young.

Well, it was better than just turning the poor animal loose. Hopefully there was a happy ending for the doggie.

Same thing happened to me. When I got divorced [del]bitchface[/del] the kids’ mom decided to get rid of the cat that she thought liked me better than her. The other two cats were the kids’ cats so they got to stay. This was several years ago.

The kids told me just this weekend they’re worried their mom is thinking about getting rid of the cats to ‘get them new ones’. She’s batshit enough to actually do it and think it’s a good idea. I told them if that happens I will take their kitties in no problem.
