Heat and Macs, (need answer fast)

So i am working on a video for a client and i go to open up DVD Studio Pro to edit the menu and the program quits as soon as it starts.

I can open up a DVDSP project file, but as soon as i play with the contents the program quits.

My friend says it is probably the heat (my office is about 90 and humid, no AC)

But every other program runs just fine. Is this typical that a single program wouldnt run because of heat but others work fine?

It’s possible. Some programs work the processor harder than others. But it’s also possible the project file is corrupted somehow, or maybe it’s trying to use more memory than you have.

I’d try restarting and making sure no other programs are running before starting DVD Studio. Maybe even turn off Bluetooth and the AirPort. If it still quits, I’d run Console (in the Utilities folder) and see what error messages it throws when DVD Studio quits. Even if the messages don’t mean anything to you, they might make good Google fodder.

Not heat.
If it were, the entire machine would shutdown, not just the one program.
Look in Console for error messages.

I have been reading around on Mac forums about issues similar to mine. It seems that DVDSP is a really sensitive program, installing the wrong thing could cause it to crash. However i didnt install any new programs. I put new sound effects in Soundtrack…i can’t imagine that would do anything to DVDSP though…

Did you run Disk Utility and repair permissions? That’s typically what I do when an application crashes unexpectedly.
