heat index/wind chill opposits???

A few months ago I was spending an evening at my sister’s and we started playing a game that I have forgotten the name of. You draw a card and describe the word at the top of the card and you can not use the list of highlighted words listed on this card. Anyhow, my word was heat index and I was describing it to my sister’s boyfriend and I said, “the opposit of wind chill” needless to say he didn’t guess it and when the time ran out I was beside myself that he didn’t get it!!! Then the battle started because he tried to convince me that the wind chill and heat index were not opposits. My defense was that they were both measurements of temp. outside the actual temp. One measures coldness and the other measure hotness thus opposites. His defense was because they did not use the same formula of measurement they were not really opposit. Who is right???

I think the game you were playing sounds like Taboo.

And wind chill and heat index are not measures of temperature but a demonstration of what the weather feels like. Actual temperature plus wind feels cooler, actual temperature plus humidity feels warmer.

I think you are correct.

I think you are both correct. It’s like saying that freezing is the opposite of boiling. On the one hand, one is hot and one is cold, OTOH they arn’t opposite numbers (that is they’re absolute values arn’t equal and they’re sum isn’t zero).

But if he knows the forumulas of the two well enough to say something like that, he cleary understands the concepts and thus should have known what you where talking about.

So on the technical level, he one (I assume, I don’t know the formulas myself)

On the ‘It’s a game stop thinking so damn hard and analyzing everything’ level, you one.

Personally, I just don’t think he knew the answer and then was trying to save face and make it look like your fault. You’re such an idiot.
