For a role-playing game session I’m running, I need to find a hebrew word. All it needs to be is the letters fay, samech, gimmel. (FSG). The vowels are inconsequential- I just need those consenants. Being a lapsed hebrew speaker, I don’t really know any words that fit this criteria. Anyone out there a little more literate than I able to lend a hand with this? The sooner, the better. Thank you very much!
If the Fey may be stresses to get a Pey, you may have Pisga (peak)
If the order doesn’t matter, you can use Safag (absorbed, male form) or Siguf / Sigef (mortification / practiced mortification)
You can also have Sfog, or sponge (from the “absorb” root mentioned above, incidentally). It’s usually written with a Vav after the Feh, but I think you can drop it if you’re using vowel signs.
Yup, that’s about it. You can either use PSG or SGP or SPG. And if you’re limited to the P remaining a “Phe” rather than a “Pe”, that pretty much eliminates PSG…
Also, can you use additional consonants, or should the only consonants in the word be PSG? Same (as already has been asked) for vowels.
If “Pe” is OK – which it should be if you’re using Hebrew letters – then I, too, think pisga is a very good word (although there’s a He on the end which you cannot drop – is that a problem?) - פסגה
Otherwise I’d go with sfog - ספוג. Again, an additional vav in there; but that one is really and truly a vowel.
If you need a word that includes absolutely only the three letters and nothing more – I’d go with safag - ספג.
Sorry I don’t have any more suggestions beyond what’s already been given. There are only so many ways you can arrange 3 letters, I guess…
