Okay, so today in Cracked, they point out that Hedy Lamarr was an inventor who came up with a number of innovations including the basis of cell phones and wi-fi (which I knew), but also in passing, was in one of the first movie sex scenes (which I didn’t).
Anyway, a little googling later, and I’m watching this: http: / / 10 Most Controversial Sex Scenes – IndieWire (no nudity, but NSFW, albeit hardly pornographic by any modern definition).
Please note that adding more than one space in a link does not make it that much safer. If you must do so, please stick with one space. Or, be awesome and use noparse tags so that no spaces are needed.
About this scene, it is far from the first sex scene in movies (though of course the OP never said it was the “first”). An interesting faux-fact (“faux” because it was from her memoirs, which she later sued and said she never even approved them, let alone wrote them), it was said the director stuck pins in her feet to get the right facial expression.
It also marks the only film in which Hedy Lamarr *had *a facial expression.
If anyone ever thinks that the world doesn’t change, just point to this. I’m trying to imagine anyone a couple of decades ago saying this. Hedy Lamarr was always and only known for her “scandalous” scenes, even though her inventions kept being written about. Now it’s the opposite? That’s a wow.
Is there anyway to get rid of that infuriating strip that moves and covers a significant part of the description of the films? I don’t care what the fiom maker intended; if I can’t read the copy, I’m not going to comment on it.
To be perfectly frank, I have no idea what you are talking about. Is it something obscuring the video, the text of the article or something else? I looked all over the linked page and couldn’t find anything I would describe as obscuring copy.
