I remember reading a comicbook from the early seventies that featured a villain named Hellboy. And he was an entirely different Hellboy than the movie and Dark Horse character. I think it was a D.C. title, but I’m not entirely sure. IIRC, he was an evil, gothic looking, occultist boy that controlled demons. Am I dreaming this? Has anyone ever heard of him?
Anyone think D.C. might have a copyright claim?

It looks familiar. He did have that curly-q hair / faux horns thing. Yes, that’s him…and he was a villain in The Demon comic books. Thanks for the heads up.

Yea, that character is him, but the modern version seems far removed from the original Kirby stuff. Man, they ought to do a Hellboy-Demon teamup. The Demon was a good comic, makes me wonder if Hellboy is an homage or ripoff of that comic?
There’s also Marvel’s Gargoyle and DC’s Blue Devil.
