Great response Tykle…
I am sure that someone in Hotlanta can speak to Verizon service issues… Pull up a chair and we will talk about our Southern Belle…
Once again, you are right, to a point. While a whole 20 some people here have posted their bad Verizon experiences, there are 20 times as many who will pass this thread over because all of their experiences have been pretty good. You must admit that a bad experience is MUCH more memorable than a pretty good one. In other words, I move cross town and Verizon hooks my service up when they say and I’m probably never going to mention it to anyone. They did their job. However if Verizon is late doing it, or a tech snips the wrong wire accidently, THERE WILL BE HELL TO PAY!!!
Got news for you CLEC’s operate within Verizon areas. You probably do have a choice.
Tyklfe, it’s cool. I didn’t really take offense, just making a point.
PS: this post is made as a SDMB member, not a Verizon employee. k?
Being a former Tech Support agent for Verizon Online DSL I can give you one piece of advice. Do everything you can to get out of Teir 1. Lie, cheat, steal, whatever, but don’t talk to them for very long or you will be hosed.
Now, let me qualify this by saying that there are good people on Teir 1, but the bad outweigh the good.
Operator, I really don’t know what Verizon NY serving NY has to do with the rest of the entire corporation not being able to fucking do their jobs. That’s bullshit. Us anti-verizoners are in so many other lacations that have NOTHING to do with NY, and in my case, this was before 9-11. Verizon’s always been like this, slacker jerkoffs(excepting any of verizon’s staff on the boards because I’m sure they’re not in my area).
They can’t take orders, they can’t meet SLAs, and they can’t even “flip a switch” from a fucking CO on time to save their asses.
If I had a choice I’d go with another provider, but I’m stuck with the same old shitty Verizon service for everything, and they suck, period.

I’m sorry Operator6, did you have to step away long from your big important job at the phone company to insult my job? I hope you clocked back in afterwards.
And MY arguments are bad? You have them going into the WTC to restore telephone service next to the firemen who were trying to save lives. Didn’t happen, babe.
And you can go ahead and come to the defense of whatever “superior” phone company you work for. I’m sure they’re fabulous. Sign me the fuck up. I’m just saying that I’ve had horrible experiences with Verizon on different occasions and across state lines.
And pezpunk, I’m sure you’re a model Verizon employee. I’m not blaming you, you didn’t personally lose any of my orders and I’m sure I 've never spoken with you on the phone. I’m also sure alot of Verizon’s bullshit has to do with “corporate” policies and not with the little guys. Sorry if I offended you.
Methinks Operator6’s real name is Megan…
When we started disputing the charges we were being double billed for, we discovered that Ohio Verizon wireless charged us over $400 for “equipment”. I am guessing this is in reference to the two cell phones we still use that only cost a hundred dollars each to begin with. I think it is really Megan’s vacation fund. All that being away from her desk takes it out on ya, I am sure.
In Verizon’s defense, though, in all my recent trials with the company from hell, I did manage to talk to a couple of charming and helpful people. Of course, nothing they put in to their computers for our account ever was seen again…Perhaps Verizon discovered they had been helpful, intelligent and polite and sent them to work in NYC, where apparently all employees are concerned and well-skilled.
What ever did happen to that spineless little crybaby?
I’ve been waiting to hear “Real tales of Telecom in the WTC” for 3 days now! A guilt trip I won’t buy into, not even for a fucking second.
