Sweetie is molto embarrasivo that the Tiny Black God of Mako caused such pain and suffering, not to mention so many helpful posts by so many kind and caring Dopers. He would like to thank everyone in this thread personally for being so kind to Wifie. 
Yes, upon his return from delivering the U.S. mail this evening, he confessed somewhat sheepishly that the TBGofM has indeed been told to play these charming chimes at certain mysterious intervals during the day, to remind him of “stuff”. What the “stuff” was that a mailman walking his route needed to be reminded of, all day every day, was a subject that, in the interests of family harmony, I did not raise.
So once again, thank you, thank you, thank you, to everybody.
And the next time the TBGofM chimes at me, it’s going to find itself being magically transported into a bureau drawer upstairs.
