Help! I had a bad dream.

The other night I had one of the most horrible dreams I can ever remember having. In the dream I had suffered a miscarriage and woke up in my bed in a pool of blood. My SO and the children were not around, so I was completely alone. The dream was so real that when I woke up I was in a cold sweat, I was shaking, confused, and almost immediately I felt like crying. I need to point out also, that I am not currently pregnant, nor do I have any plans on having any more children (I already have two).

I was wondering if anyone had any insight into what this dream might mean. I read somewhere that dreams like this may signal a personal change, but the explanation was very vague. Please help if you can, and if not, let me no what kind of bizarre dreams you have had.

I’m no help with dream interpretation, but I’ll share a creepy one I had the other night.

I was in a basement–typical basement full of boxes and junk–and there was an old man dresseed in an old-fashioned diving suit. I couldn’t see his face and one hand was covered with a rubber glove that looked kind of inflated. The inside of it was blood stained.

Then the basement was filled with a series of horrifying, bloody tableaux, most of which I don’t remember. One was the same old man, but dressed in a dingy white nightshirt and the same glove. Another was a little girl who was lying in a bed. Her face was covered with a white towel with blood soaking through it in a few spots. She was covered with a blanket, and her body seemed kind of scooped out from her rib cage to her hips–the blanket sunk almost to the mattress in her middle. She was shaking and moaning. There were more, and I kept walking around the basement in a circle, looking at all of these things.

I finally kind of wrenched myself out of the dream, then had a hard time getting back to sleep.

That sounds like something straight out of a horror movie. I don’t have to many nightmares, but I had a reoccuring one when I was in my teens. I was picked up by a man in a semi and he tried to kill me. I got out and ran through a field to an old barn or corn crib (I couldn’t really tell) and when I went inside there were all of these bodies hanging from the ceiling. I saw the man coming for me and just before he opened the door, I woke up. Needless to say, I had a hard time getting back to sleep after that.

I had the dream for about two weeks and then it never had it again.

I have had repeated dreams throughout the years that a certain member of my family died (realistic to the point that I would literally wake up crying) and this person later attempted suicide. It was worse in real life and he didn’t even die.

If pushed to interperate your dream shannablu, I would hazard a guess about a fear of losing something you hold dear and loneliness (obviously).

Thankfully, I’ve never had a ‘horror/gore’ type nightmare before. Last week I had a dream about midgets tying me down and jumping up and down on my chest saying they were trying to induce a stroke. Yeah, I get the surreal ones alright.

As a teen I had a reoccuring dream involving fire and the ground opening up. Thankfully it wasn’t prophetic .

Shannablu, dream meanings tend to be different from person to person, and the easiest way to pick up a pattern as to what origins your dreams might be stemming from is to record as many dreams as you can remember just as you’re waking up. Keep a notebook by the bed, and write in it when you’ve had a dream --any dream-- that you can remember. Sometimes a pattern will show up, and sometimes your daily life will have a hand in certain facets of your dreams.
If you don’t want to go about that idea, try and find a bunch of different books with interpretations of dream symbols. There’s different methods and cultural significances, and some may apply to you, while others may not. Good luck.

Thanks to everyone for the information, I will see about getting some more information on it. I have been going through some hard times in my life lately and I am sure that it probably has something to do with that.

It might help if you didn’t watch gory movies like Ravenous and the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake right before you go to sleep.

It would help if you didn’t make me watch gory movies before I went to bed:eek:

There was only once when I woke up from a dream and got that “Whew, it was just a dream feeling”

My wife and I had stopped at a convenience store and I went in to get some things. I kept coming back to the counter and realizing I had forgotten something. Suddenly, I was driving in my car alone. I headed for home. My wife told me that I had darted out of the convenience store and ran off. My neighbor told me that I had come running home, jumped in my car and took off.

The scary part was I couldn’t remember any of it. I was just petrified that I was losing my mind.

Wake up, feeling of releif.

The really cool thing was that somehow a drive in theater had gotten built near my house and I could see it from my bedroom window.

Children and babies in dreams can signify projects/ideas you are thinking of beginning and/or have just begun. The death of an infant or child in a dream represents the death or end of the project. The age of the child or infant can tell you how “young” (new) the project is. As time goes by the “child” grows (the project is developing). If you don’t feed and nurture the infant/child, it will weaken or die (project ends or you give it up).

Seeing as how you “miscarried”, the project/idea was just beginning to take form. The blood may be the “lifeforce” you were putting into the idea, the creative juice to start the project/idea. Death in dreams does not always mean a literal death. Your strong emotions toward the “death” may show you how much this idea/project meant to you. Even without knowing it, you may have started something or had an idea that was worth preserving somehow.

I’ve read a wee bit on dreams and dream symbols. Death is usually significant of a change in dreams so try not to be too fearful. If what someone posts here to help you makes sense to you or you have a sudden flash of insight, then follow that meaning. Your dreams only reflect you, the symbols within represent aspects of you. Take what feels right to you.

shannablu, having a unique prospective on your current situation, I would have to agree with rabid_squirrel

My guess is, subconciously, you are feeling the pressures of your situation, and are terrified of losing what you have. I know where you are coming from  Hang in there. Only time will reveal the will of others.

I would also agree with sanguinespider in as much as you feel the end of a project is coming to a close. The project being either your partnership, or the situation, as a whole coming to a close. Good Luck
