This alien-looking object was found in Mesa, AZ.
It was originally identified as the gall of a Urchin Wasp, but I think those are much too small - this was maybe 3" across. I’m assuming it’s natural, but I suppose it could be man-made.
Sorry, no idea.
I’m pretty sure that the left side of it is Elvis.
Flying Spaghetti Monster.
I agree that is creepy looking. I highly doubt it is alien though.
Based on the fact you mentioned it was originally classified as a gall, I went to the page on Wikipedia for galls. Both of these types, here and here are freaky looking enough that I could see it being a really elaborate type of gall as well.
Or not.
Was it just lying on the ground or was it attached to a plant or something? Is it floppy or stiff or somewhere in between, or what?
It kinda looks like an internal organ from an alien.
Something related to Cedar Apple Rust?
I think its a spiky glove toy because of the uniform length of the spikes and the equal spacing.

We don’t really have any information about the texture. From the photo, it looks like the object doesn’t have the slightly rough texture of any of the natural objects suggested.
The apparent finger holes, the size, and the smooth rubbery texture makes me think that a spiky glove toy is a good candidate, perhaps a fingerless one likethis.
And now I see why you are the Curator of Critters! Makes way more sense than it being an alien.
I think that’s a good possibility!
Nobody wanted to touch it, so it’s not around for positive ID.
If I were Curator of Weird Freaky Toys I might have got it sooner, but am77494 might be in the lead for that honor.
See, that’s what science is all about. I don’t want to think about some stuff I’ve touched.
Where did you find it? It looks wet, and the Salt River runs along side Mesa. I wish you’d taken a photo from the back as well as the front, since it appears to be different.
I’m actually posting this for a friend.
I think they found it in their driveway, which is a long way from the Salt…
Some rubber toy a dog chewed up and dropped while out on a walk. Makes sense if it was in a driveway.
Marital aid (batteries not included).
This is the best guess I’ve heard so far. Check local supermarkets and pet stores and see if you can find a match; the companies that make dog chew toys love to make them weird looking, and an enthusiastic dog can tear all kinds of holes in soft plastic.
I think you’re right. It definitely looks more like synthetic rubber than anything biological.
