Help ID this scene from a western

I remember seeing this scene from a movie years ago, but I don’t remember much else about it.

So lousy-shot cowboy hero, possibly a black guy, is fighting a sheriff in a mexican adobe style building… Church maybe? Anyways, there’s a shootout and neither guy is hit. Finally both hide behind posts and reload. Good guy realizes he only has 1 bullet left, bad sheriff agrees to throw all his bullets except one. They clang to the floor so that good guy knows about it, but sheriff loads six bullets in his gun. Both guys jump out and shoot at each other, good guy once and sheriff six times. The one bullet fired by good guy, who so far hasn’t hit one target, hits the sheriff right in the middle of his star. Sheriff delivers a one liner and dies.

I think that’s Shanghai Noon.

Sounds like a good scene. Can you put an approximate date or at least decade?

Just checked. I was right, it is Shanghai Noon, with Owen Wilson (and Jackie Chan, though he isn’t in that scene) and Xander Berkeley as the bad guy.

Hadnt realized Wilson had turned black, my God, drugs can really change a man.

Thanks guys! It was Shanghai Noon.

My OP was a bit confusing because on that day, I watched 3 or 4 westerns one after the other and now, 10 or 12 years later, they all mixed in my head…

I thought this movie had Jackie Chan, but I dismissed Shanghai Noon because the partner wasn’t black.

One more movie snippet I remember: A cowboy who keeps people’s ears… What movie is that from?
