I don’t remember the title or author - the story is a short SF piece which is often assigned reading in junior high schools. It’s about a girl who lives on a planet where it always rains, and the sun only comes out every seven years; her classmates lock her in the closet during the sunshine cycle. Sound familiar to anyone?
Haven’t read it, don’t know the title, but someone mentioned this very book on this very messageboard within the last three months or so. I bet you might find it with a search.
“All Summer In A Day” by Ray Bradbury. Published in the volume A Medicine for Melancholy. Horrid depressing story.
Bingo - All Summer In A Day.
Thanks to both of you.
I loved this story. But it’s so sad…
Not just one of the best short stories ever written but eternal proof that true horror has nothing to do with blood and gore.
