VERY interesting.
This is the same tune. But it’s not the exact same song. If you listen carefully there are subtle differences. And the hacky-sack guy’s version is poor quality audio, so that could account for it.
HOWEVER: Note the change at about 30 seconds into the hacky-sack guy’s video. Compare that to the change at about 2:30 into the Fatboy Slim music. They are distinctly different, at least to my ears.
Fatboy Slim goes: Beep-bwoop, beep-bwoop, bee bee be beep-bwoop.
Hacky-Sack guy goes: Deet dot bwoop bwoop boop, beep bop boop.
I’m not saying it’s not the same song… it IS the same song! Except for a subtle difference; this is one artist’s recording a song, and that is another artist’s recording of the same song.
Wikipedia tells me Fatboy Slim’s version was recorded in 1996.
I have no idea when the version I have was recorded. I would guess around the same time.
The version I have matches Hack-Sack dude’s version. Not only is it not Fatboy Slim, it’s a part of a much, much longer song.
Were I to guess, I’d have to conclude that one version was based on the other; the odds of two artists creating the same tune to this level of accuracy are just too slim (ha!) to imagine happening.
Assuming that Fatboy Slim copied this tune (I’m not claiming he did) does anyone know where he might have copied it from?
Assuming someone else copied this tune… anybody know who?
A hint: The version I have is part of an hour-long ‘song’ with many varieties of music within it; the transitions between tunes is such that it’s unlikely any particular part of the song would be played on the radio. This increases my belief that my song was copied from his… which just makes it that much harder to track down!
I will continue to not name the song or artist I have yet; Google will just provide links back to this thread if I do so!
