Some years ago on the SDMB there was a discussion of an unusual and, on the face of it, absurd consequence of a three-strikes felony policy. Try as I might I cannot find any details either through the SDMB search or Google.
As best as I can remember, some guy was wrongly convicted of a serious crime, possibly homicide. The guy subsequently escaped from jail. It was also proved that he had not committed the original crime. Unfortunately for him, even though he should not have been jailed in the first place, his absconding from jail was still considered a crime and he fell foul of the three strikes rules.
Does anybody know what I am talking about?
