Help! Ijust got permanent ink on my new washable suede jacket

I just got a spot of ink from a Sharpie Pen on the front of my new washable suede jacket. Wore it to work for the first time today. Damn!

Any suggestions for getting it out would be much appreciated. I haven’t tried anything yet because I’m afraid of making it worse.

A leather care site had this discouraging bit to offer…

"Suede

Use a Suede brush or suede stone for spot cleaning. For overall washing, use Woolite and a sponge. First get the sponge sudsy and rub the suede clean. Then use the sponge again to rinse the suds off the suede-using cold water only. Let it dry naturally and then use a suede brush to fluff up the nap.

I hope somebody else can provide something more encouraing.

Is it reversable?

Call a drycleaner or three. Ask questions until you find yourself talking to someone who knows about solvents and inks. Take the coat to them and let them clean it.

Not all Sharpie inks are “permanent”. Some of them are even soluble in denatured alcohol. Take the pen home with you, use it to write on a piece of cloth, and try removing the stain with alcohol, methanol, isopropanol (rubbing alcohol), or acetone. One of them might do the trick for you.
