… and well, I did get up, but damn, I hurt all over.
The short story: At the top of the stairs a wasp flew up from the floor directly at my face. I took two steps back and caught the edge of the top step. Losing my balance, I took a dive down 7 steps, landing with my chest on top of a living room recliner.
I knocked the recliner forward and fell onto the floor. My dog thought this was a great game and licked my face as I lay moaning and trying not scream in pain.
I am pretty sure I didn’t break anything, although my chest hurts really bad! It doesn’t hurt too much to take a deep breath, but certain ways I move… man, I suspect this isn’t going to heal in a few days either. I’m thinking it will be a long few weeks.
I still hurt today, but not as badly as yesterday and I slept OK. Maybe it won’t be a long a healing process as I was expecting. Also, I figured in a day or two other little hurts would show up - a knee or something, but so far no.
Thank you.
I do indeed. At least for the next few months. My dog loves it and it certainly has its pluses, but I do miss having more social interaction. In situations like this though, it is nice.
Thanks for the well-wishes all. When I was much younger I would read about people being injured in the home and always thought that was just silly. Now that I’m getting older I’m finding that such silliness happens more than I wish. (*Last *year I slipped in the tub and damn-near knocked myself out! lol.)
Well, I tried to run today and found that each step was painful in the chest area - so I guess running will be out for a while. I might try to wrap my chest. I’m not sure where I’ll find a wrap big enough, but I have some post surgery stomach wraps and one of them may fit.
But I’m not as sore as I was the first day, nor nearly as bad as I thought I would be.
Is seeing a doctor (to rule out a cracked rib, for instance) out of the question? Understand if you’re without medical insurance or some such, but if you’re covered, this sounds like it was serious enough to get it checked out.
Ouchie! Glad to hear it wasn’t worse. And the puppy was just worried about you. Just to let you know, I now have “I’ll Tumble For Ya” by Culture Club stuck in my head.
I usually go if I think that there is something that can be done. In the case of a cracked rib, they pretty much say Yep, you have one, you’ll have to wait for it to heal. 500 bucks please.
