Okay, with some of the suggestions above, the microphone now works again. Don’t know what did it, but there you go. Now I just have to figure out how to get the audacity program to record stuff off the computer again… The ‘record what I hear’ button is greyed out.
On edit: I can now record again via Audacity, but for whatever reason it won’t -stop- taking input from my mic. I even turn the mic hardware switch, and I’m still getting the mic as input. What’d I do wrong?
Mkay, back again with a little more data. I’ve been using the hardware test from the control panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices. (Voice tab). Everything seems to go peachy until I hit the “speaker test” portion of the show. Then, whatever I say begins to re-loop itself and get louder and louder (indicitive of feedback). The recording level drops lower and lower when this happens, but my question is, as this seems to be causing feedback whenever I use Ventrillo, how do I just stop this from happening in general? I’ve tried muting microphone and line-in, but neither seems to affect at all (the fact that muting microphone doesn’t seem to help at all is really disconcerting).
Any advice I suspect may be helpful. This is driving me batty.
