Help me abbreviate these words?

It’s times like this that make me mad that I’m no good with those whatchamacallem thingies – um, words.

I’m trying to save a little space on a web page by abbreviating 2 words: “received” and “approved.” I need abbreviations that are grammatically correct and easily understood, but short. The best I’ve come up with is “rec’d” and “appr’d”, and that ain’t not good.

To me, there’s nothing wrong with ‘rec’d’, but for approved, how about ok’d?

Too informal? Heck, abbr’s are informal, no?

I use “rec’d” here at work all the time. I’d also consider “ok’d” as mentioned, it’s a great suggestion.

ok’d could work, but the business word used is “approve”, and it would be nice to be consistant with that.

One set of standards has “rcvd” for “Received” and “aprv” for “Aproved.”

Received: Got. Or rcvd.
Approved: OK. Or aprvd.

I always use “Rx’d” & “App’d.” Tx & Rx have long been used on signal meters on two-way radios for transmit & receive.

On the other hand, looking at the ANSI standard for drawings, the list of approved abbreviations gives us “APPD” & “RECD”
