Thanks everyone for the ideas. I had completely forgotten about Raspberry Pi. I think I’ll get one even if I don’t build my device just because they seem so cool and appeal to my inner geek.
Sounds easy, but have you ever tried to use a smartphone at a Special Olympics track meet? I have, and the screen is very difficult to see in the glare of the sun.
