I am not as ‘with it’ regarding the Premiership as I would like to be, but If there is a better name in team sports than Tottenham Hotspur, I have yet to come across it.
Aston Villa also have two American goalkeepers (not sure why they need two, but…) so there’s the US angle there. And their kits are not dissimilar from West Ham, which you already said you liked.
Accrington Stanley?
what?
Crookham Krakatoa?
Hearts of Oak?
Young Boys Berne?
The guy in shelbo’s entertaining link doesn’t quite get the naming conventions right. You call them “Tottenham” (pronounced “Tot’num”) or “Spurs”, without the “the”. The full, formal name “Tottenham Hotspur” is what you might see in newspaper reports but is rarely used in casual speech. And referring to them as “the Spurs” implies a level of familiarity, like you’re a life-long fan. Cf. “the Arsenal, the Albion, the Toon” (but not “the United” or “the Chelsea”).
Given that Man City are now in the relegation zone ::smack:: I must withdraw my earlier suggestion of Everton.
You can jump on the bandwagon matey, no-one will mind
No love for Hamilton Academical’s?
Isn’t jumping on a sinking bandwagon a little dangerous?

You may laugh but he who laughs last, laughs last.
Innit?
Given that Villa beat my previous favorite West Ham 1-0, I think it was meant to be. Although, now that they’re third in the table, this feels a bit bandwagony, too. Oh well.
chowder, I will keep Man City on my short list for favorite Championship side.

as an American in Japan it’s quite hard to follow any sort of decent soccer on TV, so I download games (sorry, matches) from the internet. I tend to support Aston Villa, Liverpool, and Arsenal most, but am by no means an avid fan or anything. Just occasionally I want to watch GOOD soccer so I get some EPL (and seriously, the only foreign soccer I get on tv here is Man U, Barcelona, or AC Milan. The Japanese will only support the most popular foreign teams, it’s really annoying, and Japanese soccer is pretty crap)
Stop picking on me just 'cos I’m old.
::sulks::
Ouch- I’m young and it stings just as much!
Oh, and once you do find yourself a club, or the right club finds you, you definitely do not have to rely on FSC or whichever station usually carries your Prem matchups as a soul source of watching. I would venture to say any club at the Championship level and above has a message board run by it’s fans, and they often have insight on how to catch the web broadcasts of the games. I have been able to catch most of the City games, for better or worse, on the computer this year. The streams are not as fluid or clear as watching on regular TV, but they suffice.
Sorry, chowder. On the bright side, if things continue down this route, maybe the Sheikh will send ticketholders a 100-pound-note or something to tide them over for a year. Plus, he can bring in the unholiest group of ringers that the Championship has ever seen. Fancy watching Kaka and Torres take on Derby?
Thanks for the tip, Theodore, as I am indeed relying of FSC for my Premiership needs at the moment. What would we do without Rupert Murdoch?
I get the streams from the unofficial Man City site “BlueMoon”.
Site isn’t so bad but there are a few dipsticks on it and manure fans drop in just to take the piss
that is my site for following City as well, quite a passionate bunch, but in general good people.

Anyway, to hijack, wins this weekend, or huge shakeups have to happen in January.
