Pretty weird thread, I admit… but I recently remembered an illness I had back in 2007, and to this day it baffles me as to what was happening.
I was 26, and over the course of a few hours developed this stomach ache. A little like the initial onset of food poisoning, but not quite that acute. Bit crampy. Enough to play on the mind, but not quite bad enough to go home early from work.
It lasted as long as these things usually do… 24-36 hours… and then I felt better. So far, pretty normal… for a few days at least.
Every time, and mean this literally - every time I found myself travelling in a car or on a bus, the stomach ache returned. The exact same feeling… but only in these two exact situations. It would then last about 30 minutes after exiting the vehicle.
This carried on for a few weeks before vanishing overnight.
It wasn’t motion sickness… it was an uncomfortable cramp, similar to food poisoning… yet didn’t trigger that feeling in the brain of wanting to vomit or go to the loo. I’ve been sea sick, and had car sickness as a kid… this was nothing like it.
Has anyone experienced a similar thing, or could hazard a guess as to what it was or why it only occurred inside a vehicle?
