In 1978 I found out the guy I’d been dating had just asked another woman to marry him. I was… distraught.
I decided to take a drive. I got stuff ready, you know, snacks, a few cassette tapes.
The car was packed and I was leaving in the morning. Ok, it was going to be a looong drive.
I went out with some friends, dinner, drinks the night before. In the middle of one of those drinks, a very pretty man walked up to me and said, “I can’t stop staring at you.” I, having never heard this line before, said, “Why, is there something between my teeth?”
He was great, but I had a drive to make. I left the next morning in better spirits than I’d been in for a long time.
On one of the road tapes, I’d recorded the song On and On by Steven Bishop. There’s the problem. It wasn’t being sung by Steven Bishop.
This all happened in Kansas City MO. The artist was probably a local talent. I know it was September, because They closed Yellowstone behind me because the first winter storm of the season was following me.
Google failed me. Only you can help.
