I remember this website being the scariest website ever years ago (this was before those annoying websites where something scary pops up and screams at you).
The author finds a book in a German(?) used book store. In it it contains a lot of disturbing pictures of poltergeists, phantom electricity and stuff…very bizarre looking and disturbing. The book was in English. Soon after the man’s home is broken into and nothing is taken, he suspected that someone was looking for the book.
One of his theories for the origins of the book is as some sort of WWII Nazi propoganda tool.
Does anyone know what I’m talking about, or where this website is? I can’t seem to find it with Google.
This doesn’t really help, but I know what site you’re talking about. It had photos (either early photographic hoaxes or later digital hoaxes most likely) of things like levitating chairs and people, and lightning bolts shooting across the room, and people were dressed in vintage clothing. I believe it was supposed to be some book of secret experiments, though I don’t remember much of the details.
I tried to find the page with no luck, I run across so much stuff and I remember it but I don’t keep all that many bookmarks. If I manage to find it I’ll post later.
Cool… yeah, I was going to mention I seemed to remember it being black and green, but thought the page may have been changed since then. It must have been at least three or four years ago that I originally came across that researching conspiracy theories or something along those lines. I think it was linked off one of those paranormal “news” sites.
I think some of those photos, if blown up and printed nicely, would look cool hanging on the wall.
You know… it’s kind of sad, really, that all this is relegated to Photoshop now. I have a friend that’s a photographer and can create all kinds of spooky effects and techniques with double-exposures, developing tricks, etc. What ever happened to the fine art of old school hoaxing?
